It is less than a month until I have my Cochlear implant surgery. I am more anxious than nervous. Right now I am just trying to talk to my friends who have had the surgery and get myself prepared for what I am facing. I am fortunate to know several people who have had the surgery...talking to them helps a lot. I also have a very supportive husband, family and wonderful friends.
I was expecting to have the surgery at the end of May or first of June, so that I would be ready to go back to school Aug. 20th. Right now, my biggest fear is not having enough rehab time to go back and teach music. I know I will be hearing things in a completely different way, and my post hook-up one month appointment will be my first week back. There is no way to tell how I will do since everyone's brains work differently.
